Work and Background: David Brammeld RBSA lives and works in Stoke on Trent (an area known as The Potteries). Much of the artist's work is inspired by the (decayed) urban landscape of this area which was once dominated by heavy industry - coal mining, steel, railways and the once world-famous pottery industry, and provided its distinctive identity.

David works in a variety of media and sizes: acrylics, charcoal, graphite, oils, pastels, mixed media.

"I am inspired by the character and history of the area and produce strong works in pastel, acrylics, graphite or mixed media, in response to this.

I tend to focus on old buildings that have a history (a past) inherent in their appearance. I view these works as building 'portraits' complete with interesting scars, features, textures and blemishes. My intention is to capture the character of time and place, and also the beauty of the architecture as well as creating awareness of the human element.

Recent work features autumn/winter treescapes in graphite, pastel or mixed media, and English landscapes in oils."

David runs a series of recreational art classes in Newcastle-under-Lyme and exhibits work regularly in Staffordshire, Derby, Birmingham and London. Elected member RBSA (Royal Birmingham Society of Artists), 2009.
